As part of the Engaging Libraries programme run by The Carnegie UK Trust, Wellcome and the Wolfson Foundation, a public engagement partnership was formed between Dr Lynne Duncan, Dr Sarah McGeown (University of Edinburgh) and Glasgow Libraries after the library service won a £24,000 grant from the highly competitive programme.
The partnership worked with families living in ‘literacy hotspots’ in Glasgow, where literacy levels are lower than average. In a series of workshops, families engaged with and responded to research about how children’s language and literacy develops.
